Summary

Responsible for picking up and delivering items including but not limited to laboratory specimens, pharmacy items, mail, computer reports, tapes, and x-rays to and from MLH facilities, the Service Center, the Distribution Center, the Post Office, Blue Cross, the Medicare/Medicaid Office, and other non-MLH Memphis-area locations. Responsible for safe transport of patients, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

High School diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of experience driving a commercial vehicle and one (1) year of experience in customer service industry.

Possession of a valid TN Class D driver’s license with an “F” endorsement, or a Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL),

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to follow written instructions with ability to read a map.
  • Must be deemed insurable by MLH insurance carrier; MVR will be checked prior to transfer or employment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Performs pick-up and deliveries of necessary items to and from MH Memphis-area hospitals, the Laundry and the Warehouse.
  • Transports people and necessary items to designated locations.
  • Responds promptly to incoming calls regarding information and assistance to callers.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow associates to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Maintains daily logs.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
