Title:  Psychological Assistant Certified | Le Bonheur (Neuro) Job

Summary

Under the supervision of a Neuropsychologist, administers and scores neuropsychological and psychological tests, performs behavioral observation and documentation to aid in interpretation of test results. Assists with testing and data collection for research projects. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision and Values.

Required: Master’s degree in psychology or related field from a regionally accredited program, including at least one practicum placement involving face-to-face patient contact.

 

 

Experience Substitute: N/A

  • Minimum of one year of experience in neuropsychological and psychological testing with demonstrated competency in administration of standardized measures of cognitive, psychological, educational, adaptive, and behavioral functioning.
  • Experience in pediatric neuropsychological assessment is strongly preferred.

Certification or eligible for certification as a Psychological Assistant (CPA) with the State of Tennessee is required.  Must be maintained as a condition of employment.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with peers, medical staff, patients, families/caregivers and other constituents involved in patient care.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people with understanding and sensitivity to cultural and demographic differences.

  • Maintains documentation related to patient testing; coordinates testing procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
