Summary

The Transfer Center Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inpatient bed assignments for patients at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare. The incumbent optimizes and prioritizes patient flow activities throughout the System, as well as coordinates and facilitates the patients entry into MLH from other health care facilities. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

 

Graduate from an accredited program in Emergency Medical Services or Nursing

 

Two (2) years of related healthcare experience

Current licensure to practice as an Advanced  EMT, Paramedic, , LPN, or RN in the state of where work is performed.

 

 

PREFERRED:

Bed Control experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of EMTALA rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new computer programs and perform basic data entry.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced, call center environment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Receives and processes telephone calls requesting assistance with admissions and transfers.
  • Collaborates effectively with hospital staff, medical staff and on-call specialists.
  • Maintains a high degree of familiarity and demonstrates compliance with all established policies and procedures related to coordination of patient referral and transport.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
