Summary

The Behavioral Health Screener assesses callers with behavioral health needs and connects them to resources in the community. The screener also maintains positive relationship with PCG practices and with community resources. The Behavioral Health screener provides support to the EAP when needed. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. 

This will be a hybrid position, working both at the hospital and from home.

REQUIRED:

Master’s degree from an accredited school in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field.

Minimum of two years of related experience.

Current licensure as a licensed medical social worker (LMSW) or licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the State of Tennessee.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of family systems and human development across the life span.
  • Skill and proficiency in assessment, counseling and referral of clients in crisis situations.
  • Proficient in basic word processing skills (Word), internet navigation, and electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills both verbal and written with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, patients/families, and representatives of community agencies.
  • Ability to interact with other professionals in a team framework.
  • Ability to establish constructive relationships with clients and deal with conflict-laden or complex social situations.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of one’s own work flow.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking skills.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Screens calls to the Living Well Network and assesses callers’ behavioral health needs. Connects the clients to resources in the community and remains in contact with them until they are successfully connected.
  • Develops and maintains professional and community relations.
  • Monitors and oversees social work interns.
  • Provides support to the Employee Assistance Program as needed.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
