Summary

Works under the general supervision of the Administrator, Transplant Institute and is responsible for coordinating and providing multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient services to transplant patients and families.  Provides overall coordination for the multidisciplinary team involved in transplantation. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

 

Effective August 1, 2014, new hires (newly hired or rehired at MLH) or current Associates entering this job must also meet one of the following requirements:

  1. Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing from an accredited program;
  2. Be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program to complete a BSN or MSN within 3 years of hire date (written agreement required); or
  3. Sign a written agreement to enroll in an accredited nursing program to complete a BSN or MSN within 3 years of hire date.

 

At least three years of clinical experience or direct patient care.

Licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the state where work is performed or compact license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to handle and administer narcotics as needed.

  • Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates pre & postoperative phases of transplant.

  • Provides overall coordination for the multidisciplinary team involved in transplantation.

  • Assures appropriate care during and after transplantation.

  • Implements and directs programs directly related to Transplant.

  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development, clinical competency, and knowledge of new departments, treatments, and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.

  • Exposure to body fluids and to hazardous or poisonous materials.

  • Ability to respond to emergency or critical situations.

  • Frequent travel outside the hospital.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 200 lbs. at a time and to carry 50 lbs. at a time without assistance.

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit in one place, squat, reach, and bend while maintaining balance and coordination.

  • Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions.

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motion.

  • Good hand-eye coordination.
