Summary

The RN Cardiac Risk Coordinator is responsible for conducting clinical testing and patient assessments, developing treatment plans, monitoring patient response to treatment, and educating adult patients in programs offered through the Center for Preventive Medicine. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

R.N. with current license to practice as a professional nurse in the state where work is performed

Internship or one year in cardiac rehabilitation

OR

One year experience in cardiac nursing.

Current ACLS certification

 

Effective June 1, 2018: All new hires and transfers are required to have BLS certification.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts physiological testing and assessments on adult patients in accordance with current program policies and procedures.
  • Develops exercise plans for adult patients based on individual treatment goals and assessment outcomes.
  • Monitors patient response to treatment based on treatment goals, patient progress, and current program policies and procedures.
  • Educates patients and family members based on individual treatment goals, patient progress, and approved educational materials.
  • Utilizes effective communication systems with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
