Summary

You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of patients' rooms and hospital common areas. Our cleaning program focuses on reducing airborne allergens and contaminates as well as eliminating surface germs, bacteria, and viruses. You will help ensure the patient's stay is comfortable, taking pride in both the small and big details of maintaining a clean hospital environment. You will manage your department well and keep it stocked in order to better serve the public. Your services are never taken for granted. The cleanliness of the hospital is such a critical component of excellent patient care. You assume other responsibilities as required or directed specific to the unit. You will model appropriate behavior as exemplified in The Methodist Mission, Vision and Values.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • You must have sufficient education to read and write in English and comprehend and follow verbal and/or written instructions given in English.
  • You must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing execellent customer service.
  • You must have knowledge of policies, procedures, relevant equipment, machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • You must have the abililty to work independently and/or in a team setting.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • You will maintain floors on a daily basis in conjunction with Attendants Floor Care.
  • You will perform daily and terminal cleaning of equipment, beds and patient care areas.
  • You will provide and maintain supplies and equipment in all patient care areas.
  • You must recognize and react appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  • You will maintain and store equipment in a clean/safe condition.
  • You will adhere to and support Unit/Nursing/Hospital policies, procedures and standards.
  • You will demonstrate effective customer relations skills, promote a positive work environment, and contribute to the overall team effort in meeting customer satisfaction goals.

Physical Requirements

  • You may be required to climb, push, stand, hear, walk, reach, grasp, kneel, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
  • You must have good balance and coordination.
  • You will be performing heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • You may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
