Summary

Responsible for the coordination of service/systems required for multi-disciplinary team approach to care of trauma patients. Functions as an expert educator, consultant, liaison, leader, researcher and evaluator.  Strives to improve and maintain quality of patient care and clinical knowledge and performance of members of the trauma team.  Works close with medical staff, administration, and nursing units to fulfill these responsibilities.  Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Minimum of three (3) year’s nursing experience.

 

 

Current RN license in the state where work is performed.

 

PALS required.

 

TNCC certification required within one year of hire.

 

Successful completion of ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care Nurses) coursework within one year of hire.

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED:

 

Master’s Degree preferred.

 

 

Emergency/trauma nursing experience is preferred.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing evaluation of assessment, communication, and technical skills of trauma personnel.
  • Responsible for Trauma Education.
  • Responsible for coordinating trauma program and trauma issues.
  • Participates in quality improvement and evaluation activities and implements measures to ensure that hospital, JCAHO, and other quality standards are met.
  • Maintains reliable systems to document, track and monitor trauma cases.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
