The Licensed Practical Nurse, Associate Health is responsible for assisting in the planning, directing, implementing and evaluating of the Associate Health Program for system Associates and for testing, evaluation, and referral of Associates.  Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.


  Education/Formal Training Work Experience Credential/Licensure
REQUIRED: Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the state where work is performed or compact license.

Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.




  • Skill and proficiency in concepts, principles and techniques of nursing.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to apply problem solving techniques.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Complies with established patient care guidelines, maintains established clinic policies, procedures and objectives, is aware of patient rights and confidentiality issues and abides by established communication policy with regard to the age specific populations.
  • Accurately obtains, organizes and records necessary patient data.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA’s respiratory protection standards by providing education, testing and documentation to identified Associates.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment issues necessary for fit-testing.
  • Performs fit-testing for MLH associates.
  • Preforms PAPR Training
  • Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the respiratory protection program for all MLH facilities.
  • Maintains fit-testing and PAPR data
  • Assist with pre-employment screenings.
  • Complies with established guidelines for onboarding process for new candidates and/or current staff.  TBST, fill UDS secreening and give vaccinations.
  • Maintains Associate Health records
  • Initiates a plan of care for Associates under the guidance and direction of a RN.
  • Implements medical care plan for Associates under the guidance and direction of a RN.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, pulling, lifting, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Use of hands for gripping and squeezing as well as repetitive hand and wrist motion.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate both orally and through writing to other individuals.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • Weekly travel to other facilities to provide Associate Health services.
