Summary

The Compensation Analyst I works under direct supervision to support the implementation and administration of human resources at the system level primarily through compensation analysis and research to support business needs.  Responsibilities will include competitive market assessment of jobs, job evaluation and FLSA classification, developing and maintaining job descriptions, and internal equity reviews.  This role will develop effective partnerships with our facility HR teams and leaders of assigned client groups. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance or related field.

Minimum two (2) years’  Compensation Analyst experience

OR at least three (3) year’s HR Generalist experience, to include compensation.

 

 

PREFERRED:

 

Work experience in healthcare field or hospital system.

Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Professional Human Resources Certification through SHRM or HRCI

 

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:

A combination of job relevant experience and education will be considered

At least five (5) year’s experience as a Compensation Analyst

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills; with the ability to manage issues or problems involving careful interpretation, analysis, and diagnosis.
  • Demonstrates analytical, research, and project management skills with ability to validate recommendations and explain decisions.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a team player.
  • Must be detail oriented, deadline driven, and focused on accuracy.
  • Must also possess the ability to exercise discretion, tact, and independent judgment.
  • Must exhibit strong oral and written communication skills with ability to clearly convey quantitative and qualitative information for management decision-making. 
  • Proficient in PC applications including Word, Excel (intermediate to advanced knowledge), and Power Point.  Microsoft Access experience preferred.  Basic to intermediate knowledge of HR information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FLSA regulations and experience applying exemption tests.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Identifies, collects, analyzes, and presents data and information for compensation decisions and recommendations.
  • Serves as an effective business partner to internal clients, providing guidance and consultative assistance with respect to compensation issues and programs.
  • Creates and modifies jobs/job descriptions; conducts effective job evaluations.
  • Assists with special projects and participates in groups as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
