Summary

Serves as the eCW operational representative and advocate in the design, development, implementation and adoption of the electronic medical record (EMR) and other patient care systems.  Primary function will be to ensure physicians are well trained on the eCW.  Works closely with division leaders, multi-disciplinary teams and IS to drive clinical transformation to meet the division/system-wide EMR project goals, benefits and desired outcomes. Key activities will include needs assessment, end-user communication, change management, collection of data through observation/audits, implementation support and adoption reinforcement. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances.  Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Technology, Health Administration or similar field. 

Must have at least three (3) years of experience conducting computer application or other technical training in a professional environment in the health care industry.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies required.  Demonstrated success in the mentoring, coaching and teaching of others.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. 
  • Advance knowledge of workflow redesign and process improvement associated with EMR and/or patient care systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to consistently exercise sound judgment and initiative in a wide range of circumstances.
  • Ability to travel to any area of the organization, both local and remote as needed. Must provide own transportation.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and prepare moderately complex written materials such as software documentation.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing information management concepts and methods to non-technical users.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating and leading teams and projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures physicians are trained on EMR.
  • Promotes the adoption and utilization of EMR by ensuring physicians in the physician practices are trained on the eCW.
  • Defines, analyzes, and adapts clinical department workflow to support the design, implementation and utilization of EMR and other systems.
  • Conducts critical analysis of issues inhibiting or preventing adoption and utilization of EMR by nursing and other clinical disciplines.
  • Acts as facility coordinator for communication to Super Users and end users regarding updates, issues and implementation. Responds and follows up with staff and management in timely manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Normal office environment.

    •     On call for emergencies and support.

    •     Must be able to read, write and communicate both orally and in writing.

    •     Normal or corrected-to-normal vision.

    •     Must be able to lift, pull and carry up to 10 lbs. periodically.

    •     Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, sit in one place, squat and kneel periodically throughout shift.

    •     Must be able to reach, bend and twist periodically throughout shift.

    •     Must have good balance and coordination.

    •     Use of hands for repetitive hand and wrist motion.

    •     Must have good hand eye coordination.
