Summary

The Director Web & Digital Strategy is accountable for the strategic planning, development, testing, and management of websites and digital marketing strategy for MLH.  Develops, prioritizes, and oversees the execution of projects based on key organizational priorities.  Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, marketing, MIS, or closely related field.

At least 10 years of full-time work experience in a related web/digital role such as project manager, program manager, marketing manager, or similar.

 

 

 

PREFERRED:

Master’s degree

Web/digital role in an acute care hospital setting

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Extensive practical experience and sound theoretical understanding of digital marketing, engagement analysis, social media analytics, web design, web content strategy, and information architecture.
  • Advanced skills in HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, JSP, and/or XML.
  • Working knowledge of web server environments, SQL database management systems, and complex networks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, e-mail, and social media.
  • Content marketing experience with increasing responsibility for designing and executing content management strategies that integrate marketing and operational strategies.
  • Ability to handle a heavy, complex workload with a major impact on MLH website, mobile applications, and digital communications. 
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills with ability to work effectively with leaders and associates at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external audiences.  Must demonstrate strong skills in writing and editing.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Advanced understanding of content management systems and application management, and working knowledge of web server environments, SQL database management systems, and complex networks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing digital marketing strategies and tactics, marketing database, e-mail, and social media.
  • Demonstrated experience building and executing content marketing campaigns with increasing responsibility for designing and executing content marketing strategies that integrate marketing and operational strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing content strategy and governance programs for internal and external websites.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, plans, and executes MLH’s overall web and digital marketing strategy to include website development, email marketing, mobile marketing, social networking and digital/online communities, search engine marketing, mobile app development and innovation.
  • Works closely with cross-organizational stakeholders, including executive leadership, on strategic priorities, including direct involvement in setting strategic priorities and translating into actionable project plans.
  • Develops, prioritizes, and oversees the execution of projects based on marketing insights, competitive intelligence, trends in online technology, and alignment with key organizational priorities.
  • Leads the effective execution of digital programs across the organization to drive brand awareness, engagement, and traffic;  serves as a key advisor in the development of MLH’s overall digital strategy.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of digital marketing activities by tracking campaign metrics, analyzing results, and optimizing landing pages, messaging, etc. 
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for innovation and efficiencies to support MLH strategic goals, including patient experience, and high- quality care.
  • Develops mobile apps that improve the patient and consumer experience, streamline clinical workflow and enhance patient safety.
  • Manages business and technical oversight of all content management software products.  Manages vendor and outsourced relationships, negotiates pricing, and ensures accountability for timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Designs, implements, and manages infrastructure and architecture for technologies supporting web and social media, including applications, development platforms, content management systems, directories, APIs and databases.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and best practices, and provides thought leadership and perspective for adoption.  Influences the broad adoption of digital best practices in testing, monitoring, engagement, targeting, and other optimization across e-mail, web, social, and mobile channels.
  • Develops, monitors, and controls the operating budget for assigned area; forecasts future funding needs for the system.
  • Effectively manages team capacity to meet demands, including sourcing and managing key vendor relationships.
  • Manages the activities of Associates as assigned; monitors Associates performance and clarifies work expectations, assists with goal setting, and promotes cooperation among individuals and groups.  Develops and implements processes through orientation, training and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated throughout their employment.

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
  • May be on-call for emergency situations that require immediate resolution.
