Summary

The Biomedical Engineer performs operational and safety testing, maintenance and repairs on patient care equipment for Methodist Alliance Home Medical Equipment including: oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, compressors, apnea monitors, ventilators, phototherapy units and CPAPs. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Associates Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics or related field.

 

 

One (1) year of experience in Clinical Engineering.

 

 

Possession of a valid driver's license.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:

Post High School Technical and Clinical training experience equivalent to four (4) years of Clinical Engineering experience.

  • Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of Associates, physicians and equipment manufacturers and vendors.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to organize tasks, set priorities and maintain control of workflow.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Performs periodic maintenance, performance assurance, and electrical safety inspection and other safety tests.
  • Inspects and tests all newly purchased or leased equipment and all personal electrical equipment owned by patients and staffs.
  • Determines cause of problems or malfunctions.
  • Maintains, orders and inventories parts and supplies.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.
  • Ensures that department related communications are coordinated among all team members.
  • Performs other job functions.

     

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
