Summary

The Accountant II works closely with all levels of management with minimum supervision.  The workload is heavy in volume, intermediate in complexity and financial impact.  The position is responsible for performing significant general accounting duties for Methodist Healthcare entities.  Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

 

In addition, this position/role will take the lead on AP issues and resolution. AP experience is a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.

Minimum of three years of experience in accounting principles and techniques.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Skill and proficiency in utilizing a personal computer in a Windows environment with emphasis on Excel spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of computerized general ledger systems and other accounting systems.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Ability to schedule and organize multiple tasks.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, works with other accountants and staff in performing monthly duties related to the processing of financial data.
  • Prepares assigned account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Accepts projects from Director or Associate Director and completes projects under limited supervision.
  • Uses effective customer relations skills, promotes a positive work environment and contributes to the overall team effort.  Understands, applies and supports departmental/hospital policies and procedures.
  • Serves as lead accountant, under limited supervision, in preparation of all monthly activity for assigned companies.
  • Serves in “Power User” role for assigned financial software modules.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
