Summary

The Perinatal Quality Coordinator provides professional, clinical nursing, technical knowledge, skills and expertise for the development and continuous improvement in Perinatal care.  Coordinates all Perinatal care procedures.  Provides data management oversight, analysis, and reporting to identify patterns of care, benchmarked best practices, and opportunities for improvement.  Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

 

At least three (3) years’ clinical nursing experience.

Licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the state where work is performed or compact license.

 

PREFERRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively.
  • Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of complex problems.
  • Must demonstrate a good understanding of medical terminology, medical record chart documentation, medical diagnosis, and treatment protocols related to perinatal services. 
  • Ability to work effectively and productively without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in decision making. 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to contribute in decision making. 
  • Proficiency at an intermediate level with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to relate effectively, yet diplomatically, with physicians, department leaders and direct reports.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Synthesizes and presents quality performance results to identify variances and lead change to ensure consistent compliance with recognized best practies and high quality performance when compared to national benchmarks.
  • Coordinates all Perinatal patient care procedures in accordance with clinical parameters and compliant with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Leads and promotes professional practice of all members of the perinatal care team, including physicians, through deep knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Concurrently reviews patient care, as appropriate, to ensure quality and compliance with all applicable standards.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent non-invasive patient contact
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
